VOGUE: “Though the Eastside enclave of Silver Lake is where many of L.A.’s creative elite live and work, it’s not typically thought of as a hub for decadent nightlife. Now, however, the neighborhood is home to the most promising new player on the city’s late-night landscape, albeit in the unlikeliest of locations: a nondescript building next to Trader Joe’s. Named for a 1907 book about birds, Tenants of the Trees is really several venues in one: The namesake space is an indoor-outdoor cocktail bar inspired by the neighborhood’s mid-century architecture, with a cozy A-frame lounging nook and food truck outside; Concession is an outdoor movie theater with a rotating cast of chefs; and the cozy, VIP-only, no-phones-allowed front space, Out of Order, hosts DJs and dancing. If you can get in, you’re likely to bump into models visiting from New York, members of Judd Apatow’s lad-flick clique, and music-industry luminaries (was that The Weeknd or just a doppelgänger?). But even the plebes here are, in the words of Derek Zoolander, really, really, ridiculously good-looking. Word to the wise: Take Uber; parking in this neck of the woods is even tougher than getting past the bouncer.
